The Rink Scheduler.
An overview in the form of a user's guide.
Initiating, first run only.
Facility Information. This sets up a template for editing.
Most important is the number of sessions
as this cannot be changed once a book has been set up.
The Template
Move the cursor over the items to edit and overwrite them. Press Enter to Finish.
Changes made to the start time of Monday Session 1 and telephone numbers entered.
Press 's' to save. This information can be edited from within the programme.
An empty book is written based on the number of days, sessions and rinks.
The number of rinks is preset, the facility in this example and the demo have nine.
The Main Menu is the Entry and Exit point for all future runs.
CASUAL BOOKING
Press Enter for Casual to book individual rinks.
The page date is displayed in the top right corner and session 1, rink 1 is highlighted.
Date Navigaton:- Enter a date or use the first letter of the shortcuts:-
Start date, End date, Tomorrow, Yesterday, Next week, Last week
Rink Selection:- adjust the highlight window with the arrow keys, the 'End' Key sets a new corner.
The facility is closed on Christmas Day so type in 25-12-7 and press Enter.
Press 'e' for Edit then type in 'Xmas' at the text prompt, press Enter.
All the rinks are booked.
To book a small range of rinks.
Press the left and down arrows until session 6, r1 is highlighted, then press the 'End' key.
Press the right and up keys until the window expands to session 4 r4
Press 'e', type in 'Coaching' and press Enter, it should look like this:-
From the Main Menu, press 'p' and set the period in weeks between bookings.
Localise the day(s) and session(s) for the repeated booking.
Press Enter and confirm Acceptance, re-edit or return to the Main Menu
Set the range of rinks.
Type in the text.
and confirm.
Navigate to a Friday then keep pressing 'n'. The booking will show every two weeks.
Repeating it with the following changes:-
Ensures they change rinks on alternating weeks.
On returning to the Main Menu, notice the 'V' is highlighted in saVe.
Press ' v ' to save the updated book.
If an attempt to exit the programme without saving an updated book a warning appears.
Also under Files is LOad. Press 'o' to reload a previous book.
Three books are kept, the one worked on, the last saved and the previously saved.
If recent placements were incorrect, the last book can be loaded to save re-editing them.
If that was wrong your last chance is the previously saved.
To move the Book's start or finish dates forward, press 'a' for Alter Book Date.
For a completely New Book, press 'n'.
Book initiation - same as when the programme was first run.
From the Main Menu press 'L' then 'p' in the sub menu to place a league.
Localise the day/session.
The league booking form:-
Provide details by moving the highlight over emphasised characters and overwriting them.
Pressing enter after an alteration will update the summary.
Pressing enter again will offer a prompt to accept or otherwise.
smooth repeats when teams meet more than twice.
A routine monitors various aspects of the league(s) as they are fed in, balancing:-
Individual team and Overall rink usage.
The percentage of games played by many divisions, so they occupy the same period.
The day of the week when scheduling two or more divisions over two or more days.
The progress is monitored on this sreen:-
After each session is sorted the games are fed into the book.
Looking at the first three meetings in casual:-
Divisions can be loaded Separately (as the previous example), Full and Mixed.
In the Full Mode if rinks are unavailable for all possible teams to play in a session, none will.
18 teams can play on nine rinks giving a maximum of 19 teams in the division.
Overtyping a new number of divisions expands the form to give each a template.
Here is the preparation for a single division labelled 'A' and
two divisions of a league with continuous numbers whose labels will not be published.
All will be fed in Mixed Mode.
The game queues are loaded.

Looking at the Mixed Mode placements in casual:-
To change one of them, from the League submenu press 'a'.
And the result
If a mistake has been made in booking a league it can be deleted using the D option.
Exporting league fixtures: from the League submenu press 'e'.
If the league tabulator is installed in the same folder, league fixtures can be exported
to it and assist in tracking down games that have not been played.
The tabulator's data folder is read so the league can be selected by its filename.
Identify the league whose fixtures are to be exported.
The fixtures are retrieved and passed on to the tabulator's Games Folder.
From the Main menu press K, enter a competition code and press I to initiate it.
The Finals Day may be on a different day to ones chosen for playing preceding rounds.
Provisionally games are fed in back from the final as a continuous stream interrupted only
when separating a qualifier from its next round. The proposal is presented for adjustment
Prelims and 1st rounds were separated by moving R0g1 (17 Nov) to the 'p'rior free session.
On acceptance the reservations are placed into the book.
If a game has been accidentally overwritten or deleted, the competition is incomplete.
Damaged or changed competitions may be deleted by choosing the 'd' option.
Making the draw.
First drawn are the preliminaries that appear topmost in a table followed by the first rounds.
Names may be attached to the drawn numbers if they are in a csv file (from Excel or Notepad)
that has the same name as the competition and resides in the Entries Folder.
for Printing and Publishing, with names merged.
The Routine attempted to avoid teams playing on the same rink as much as possible.

Press 'b' from the Main Menu for 'Booking Info' (under UTILITIES).
To select all the days for each line place the cursor under Monday and press the 'End' key.
The result:- A summary of free rinks
and a catalogue of the start dates and session of leagues and competitions.
Leagues are identified by their label, each unique label is displayed.
The search can of course be restricted by the selection.
Casual bookings are not catalogued. The summary of spare rinks helps with future scheduling.
Edit Club Details
Displays the form seen on first run for editing individual session times and main club details.

Press enter to accept, 'A' to abort, keeping the current scheme and 'R' to redo it.

Finally to Quit the programme, press 'q' at the Main Menu.
Click the link, your zip utility will ask where to extract SCHEDULR.EXE to.
Create a shortcut to it.
Double click the shortcut. Sub folders are created on first run, outputs will be in the folders.
